Scuba Diving in Roatan

LeisurePro Tip: Roatan is an island just off the coast of Honduras . It boasts an underwater mountain range and the second largest barrier reef in the world. At 40 miles long, three miles wide and surrounded by coral reefs on all sides, Roatan is one of the premier deep diving destinations on the planet.

When visiting Roatan, make sure you book your stay between the months of June and October. The temperatures range from 78 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit during this time. Additionally, the weather is humid, but typically measures between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Whether you plan to go TEC diving in Roatan, or just check out the coral reefs, you can rent your scuba gear from any number of dive shops on the island, or you can shop online or off before you visit for discount dive gear. Some shops also will partner with top resorts to offer discount dive gear, so before you make your reservation, ask the hotel if they partner with a local, accredited dive operator.
